We believe that no one actually needs a green thumb to have the best hedge on the street!
You just need to be smart in choosing the right plants for your hedge, that best suit your growing conditions and ongoing maintenance requirements.
Below is ranked the 4 best large hedging/screening plants that you can plant in Coastal NSW:

These super hardy plants thrive in coastal weather and create a thick, lush evergreen hedge with large glossy leaves. They are very fast growing (expect approx. 1m height growth per year in reasonable conditions), and very easy to grow and maintain (trim approx. 2x per year, as with most hedges). You can grow them anywhere from 1m to 4m high, making them a great screening hedge, perfect for hiding ugly features.

We call Lilly Pilly Select the 'ultimate Aussie backyard hedge' for a reason! This beautiful Australian native is perfect for your garden. It has thick, deep evergreen foliage with bronzy coloured fresh growth. Lilly pilly is a hardy native, and will grow in tough soils and conditions (think near the beach, close to pools, in clayey soil, etc.) It creates a very dense screen hedge with height anywhere from 1.5m to 5m.

Murraya, also known as Orange Jasmine, has beautiful, dark green, dense foliage with lighter green fresh foliage. A highlight of Murraya is it's masses of white, sweet smelling flowers in spring and summer! It can grow anywhere from 2 to 4m depending on how high you hedge it - great for screening in your garden!

These hardy and brightly coloured plants are perfect to create an eye-catching hedge! Their green and striking red foliage is perfect for making your garden look WOW. They are hardy (low maintenance) and will grow anywhere between 1.5m and 4m depending on how high you trim them. Photinia's are great for screening and hiding ugly features in your garden.
